People can be so rude!!!!

Filed under: Uncategorized — by lhoham @ 10:29 pm

I went to a banquet tonight with my husband so I wore a nice new dress from Motherhood. It makes me look a little bit bigger than regular clothes b/c of the empire waist, but not horrible.

Well this woman who I don’t know said “oh you must be due soon – when are you due?” I said “not until March.” “Oh my,” she said, ” you are huge. You look like you are carying twins!” And she was drop dead serious….

OMG? Really? You really said that? I didn’t know what to do. I was mortified. Now I have a complex that I’m super huge and I’m really not. I’m normal – measuring normal. I’m very petite so it’s all in my belly – not much room for the baby go grow but out. But even if she was thinking it – does she really have to say it????

I’m going to totally obsess over this now – I was going to wear the same dress to a girlfriends baby shower tomorrow but now I think I’ll go with regular clothes – I don’t want to feel so huge….

Thanks for listening to my rant…

  1. Oh girl! People can be VERY rude and I’m sure it was akward but don’t let it bother you! You went through hell and back to earn that baby belly and you need to show it off! You’re adorable and I’m sure you looked smashing in the dress! Tiny people always look bigger as you said – no where for baby to grow but out! Wear that dress tomorrow and be proud of that belly! Post some pics while you’re at it, so we can all oogle over that cute belly!

    Love ya!

  2. To put it bluntly, people suck. I get those comments on a daily basis along with the “you’re just HUGE!” I’m also petite and tend to grow outward when pregnant, but it’s hard to hear those comments because you wonder if you’re doing something wrong. I know it’s hard, but try not to stress. If you’re measuring on target and your weight gain is normal then it’s fine.

Plus, you’re likely very close to your third trimester so this is when you should be getting bigger. Thinking of you!

  3. For some reason people think pregnancy makes you immune to criticism. I heard some of the RUDEST comments while I was pregnant. People will not think twice about telling you how to run your life, what to eat, how to decorate your nursery, what to name your baby, and yeah and calling you fat!

Sorry your feelings were hurt 😦

  4. Thanks, ladies. I just couldn’t believe it – I really was stung by the comment!

I’ll post pics as soon as I can!!! 🙂 I decided not to wear the dress, BUT, I like my outfit a lot today so I’m okay! haha!!!

  5. Yeah, ditto – people say the oddest and rudest things when you’re pregnant. Not sure why but just happens and it gets frustrating.

  6. People don’t have a clue and say the dumbest things. I was actually pretty small for my pregnancy – didn’t gain any weight at all. Half the time, people told me I was huge, and the other half, people didn’t believe I was so far along. It all upset me!

  7. People are just plain rude. Why do they feel the need to open their mouths like that? I know what you mean about being all belly. I’m sure you look super cute and enjoy that baby belly. I miss mine so much. I got the oposite where people couldn’t beleive I was carrying twins and I had to tell them “Yes, there are two in there” all the time.

    Post some pics!!!

  8. And nothing has changed from when I was pregnant with you. When people see a pregnant woman, they somehow feel she is community property and anything goes. It should be the old adage “If you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say anything at all.” Of course, when you do get a comment about being “huge” you could always respond “Yes, but I’m pregnant…what’s your excuse?” :>)
    Love you, Mom
